Our History
The Federation of Lofa Associations in the Americas has been in existence since 1991.
According to the organization's historical account, the idea for a national association of Lofa citizens emerged during the Liberian civil war, when Liberians in the United States were concerned about their families, communities, and homeland. Early discussions among Lofa citizens, particularly in the Detroit area and with connections to Minnesota, led to the proposal for a national convention in Detroit.
That vision of unity became the foundation for FLAA.
Over the years, the Federation has continued to serve as a gathering point for Lofa communities across North America, promoting solidarity, cultural identity, and service to the people of Lofa County.
